Payments

  • Payments for the session must be made before the first lesson of each session. Payments can be made by mail or in person. Any bill not paid in full at time that lessons begin will automatically be assessed a $25 late fee.

  • If the student does not complete registration and pays by the appropriate date, her/his lesson time will be given away. Incomplete payment will not guarantee the spot. It is the student’s responsibility to verify the correct amount of payment and to keep track of their payment times.

Refunds

  • Registration fees are non-refundable.

  • For new students: Pro-rated refunds for private lessons may be requested only within the first three weeks. Failure to attend lessons after the third lesson without notification does not release students from the obligation to pay for the semester.

  • For continuing students: There are no refunds for paid sessions. Once you have paid, your spot is booked and cannot be refunded.

Late Payments, Delinquent Accounts, Returned Checks

  • Full payment or payment plan is due before the first lesson of each session. Any bill not paid in full at time that lessons begin will automatically be assessed a $25 late fee. The Franklin Music School reserves the right to stop a student’s instructional activities without a refund if there is an unpaid account balance.

  •  The office will notify you if your check is returned for any reason (e.g., insufficient funds, stop payment, or account closed). You must pay in cash or with certified funds the original check amount plus a $25 returned check charge.

Absences and Cancellations

  • Regular attendance is expected.

  • All Cancellations are to be emailed directly to your teacher. Make sure to ask the office for the teacher’s email address if you do not have it.

  • One non-holiday cancellation is permitted per 12-week session and must be reported no later than 10:00 am on the day of the lesson. For lessons scheduled before 3pm, cancellation must be reported by 10pm the night before. Any absences or cancellation notifications made after those designated times are not required to be rescheduled and no refunds will be given.

  • Make-up lessons cannot be guaranteed if the absence is caused by the student, and will be contingent on available space in the teacher’s schedule.

  • The make-up lesson must be completed within the same session during which the lesson was missed, and will not be carried over into the next session. It is students’ responsibility to contact their teacher as early as possible about scheduling their make-up within the same session. The ability to schedule a make-up expires after the session is finished.

  • The teacher will offer make-up lessons on designated day(s) of each semester. If the student is unable to attend the designated make-up day(s), or does not respond to the teacher’s scheduling request in a timely manner, the teacher is under no obligation to reschedule the lesson, and the lesson may be forfeited. Once a make-up lesson is scheduled it cannot be rescheduled. If a student cancels or misses an arranged make-up lesson, it will not be rescheduled and no refund will be given.

  • Any lesson cancelled by the teacher will be made up at the mutual convenience of the teacher and the student, or a substitute will be provided by NMA without notice. Please notify the office if you prefer to cancel and schedule a make up if your teacher is not available. An individual teacher may elect to offer exceptions to this policy due to an extenuating circumstance; however, this is subject to the teacher’s schedule and space availability.
